Make sure your condensing fan in the back is running and condenser is not clogged with lint. If ok, your compressor is overheating possibly due to low refrigerant charge or a clogged capillary.

Thanks for the reply Rich, low refrigerant and clogged capillary means I'm SOL on this 3yr old fridge. I guess I'll start shopping for a new one...

Before junking, take a look at the freezer coils, may be all clogged up with frost which is relatively easy to fix.

If there is a problem with the cooling system and your fridge is just 3 years old, it should be under the manufacturer warranty and they have to fix it without any charge to you.

freezer coil is fine no frost. like i said fridge is working fine. the ice maker is still making ice. I changed the defrost heater last year. I know I only have one year warranty when I bought it so warranty is out the question. I'd like to fix it to save some money but i guess my wife is in favor of just buying a new one. thanks for trying to help guys. I'll just put this one in my garage and just used it as my beer fridge.:D
