Hello, My refrigerator/freezer recently went out (it won't cool). The fan comes on; so I am assuming it is something with the compressor or the compressor circuitry. Figured I would start with the relay and the large capacitor - which leads to my question. Is there any way to check either and know if they need to be replaced? I don't want to replace them if I don't have to. Someone once told me to short the lines on the relay to see if the compressor would kick on. Not sure which lines they're talking about, so I thought I would first ask? If anyone knows where I can find a schematic, that would be a big help.

Thanks, in advance,

Brock

Hi,

If you have power 120 volt AC to the start relay and the compressor is not shorted out then replace the start relay.
