My whirlpool gas dryer model # LGR8858EQ2 does not go on (spin dryer drum and heat). I believe it has to do with the front door sensor switch. Yesterday the dryer would not shut off when the door was opened (it would continue tumbling the clothes when the door was opened during operation and the light would not come on when door was opened when the dryer was off.) Now the light remains on all the time and the dryer will not operate. I assume it is an issue with the dryer door switch assembly. Could there be another issue causing these symptoms? Is there something I could do to narrow it down and confirm it is the door switch? Is there a way to repair the switch?

Hi Ed, Most likely the problem is a bad door switch. This part is not repairable and has to be replaced. - The part number for the door switch is AP3132865 Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dryer Model LGR8858EQ2Gene.

Gene,
Thank you for the response. I started tinkering with the dryer and found the door switch. I readjusted its position and manually worked it back and forth. It seems to be operating OK for now (light goes on/ off, tumbling is operational, ..). I will keep the information you provided since the switch may be on its way out. Thanks again, Ed
