my whirlpool dryer will start sometimes. When I push the start button tub turns but it will sound like its struggling and then you here a click and it just quits trying, then it wont even allow it to try for a few minutes and then it will allow u to try agian.:confused: I am wondering if there is a relay or is it just the power switch that is giving me this problem

Sounds like a motor problem.
What is happening is that the motor is overheating. It then trips it's internal thermal protect. You then have to wait for the motor to cool down and the thermal protect to re-set before you can start it again.

Try turning the drum by hand in the correct direction. It should turn fairly easily.
If not perhaps the drum is putting too much load on the motor. You may want to try his on a couple other units to get a feel for it.

In most case it is the motor that is shot and needs to be replaced.
