This is an upright freezer 18 yrs old. The compressor stopped working and I shut if off. After a couple of hours I turned it back on and it worked fine for about 8 hours then shut down again. I have repeated this pattern several times. What part do I need?

I think my problem may be the thermostat control. The freezer get below 0 and does not cycle off. After awhile the compressor shuts down do to overload protection. Does this make sense?

I have replaced the thermostat, the compressor relay and overload. The freezer runs, gets very cold when the compressor shuts off it is unable to restart unless the thermostat is turned off for about 2 hrs. After this time I turn it on and it will run for 24-48 hours before it shuts off again. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is?
