I went to replace my belt and found the idler pulley laying in the bottom of the dryer. I know that it fits in the slots, but it will not stay in the slots.
Will it fit or stay up when everything is back in the dryer?

You might want to replace it; it isn't too expensive. It will stay in place, once the belt tension is on it.
