Hi guys,
I found this forum after already ordering the part from GE - WB56K0020
I should have ordered it here. anyway, I got some help and encouragment from another post and decided to install it myself. (One guy called and offered to do this for $200; GE wanted $90 to come and $$?? to install)
Wow - a very easy project I must say - 45 min-1 hr (slowly) and I am a complete amatuer.
I do have a problem that I hope some one could help with -
When I unscrewed the two long screws at the top and a 4 little ones at the botom and separated the grey metal postion that holds the glass from the white (front) panel, <2> little black pieces fell out. See attached JPG (3 shots of the same piece).
I couldn't figure out where to put them in. Coincidently, after I replaced everything and connected the metal piece back to the plastic panel - the two top screws didn't go in all the way easy. I had to really force and was afraid I would break something, so didn't fully drive them in (but almost).
All seems good, but I was told to avoid having extra parts at the end of the project.
Any comments?
As a side note - I paid like 140 to GE for the pack WB56K0020 and all I needed was just 1 piece of glass. The pack had 2 pieces of glass and metal frame and some hinges.
What a waste of money. will sit here for next project, unless someone wants it (13x31).
also, any idea If I could have ordered a regular glass from a glass company. Or a dishwasher galss of the same size from another company (I've seen some sold on this site for $30).
Thanks a lot! Ike
