turn on timer then turn to on. dryer does not start. just hums. checked door button nothing wrong. If I keep trying to start it, eventually no sound at all.

I would pull off the back panel, remove the belt from the motor and check the motor for seized bearings. If impossible to turn, I would pull off the front panel and look for something jamming the blower.

Sounds like your motor is either jammed or shot.
The humming stops because the motor has a thermal cutout in it, so eventually it gets hot enough to trip the cutout and your humming stops till the motor cools down and the cutout resets.
Try turning the drum in the correct direction by hand, it should turn relatively easy.
If OK. Open the door, hold the door switch closed, push the start button, rotate the drum in the correct direction if it starts rotating odds are high that your motor is toast (start winding burned out etc.). Watch your knuckles in case it starts up. |
