My oven comes on like everything is working fine; however, the oven does not heat over approx. 200 degrees. It even works on broil. I called an appliance repair company and the tech did not do anything but turn the oven on. He told me that I need a new thermostat. I waited over 2 weeks and have not heard back from the tech. i would like to replace the thermostat myself. Is part #4451442 the only part that I need and how do i install it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My whirlpool built in oven is not working ...when i press start ...it appears as it might work ...goes to LO and the degree symbol is displayed and i hear the familiar click as if it was going to heat up but nothing happens ..the lo and degree symbol stays there and no heat is produced.

Hi Doris,

If the oven works on Broil then it has nothing to do with this thermostat.

Pull the Bake heating element out and check for a burned out wire(s).

If there is nothing wrong then remove the wires from the heating element and check the heating element for continuity.

If this is not the issue then the control board has to be replaced.

- The part number for the Bake heating element is AP3891569

- The part number for the control board is AP3851248

Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool oven Model RBS245PDS17
