 My 15 year old DW has a spring type blade that slides over the shaft with a single wire cutting blade that is actually part of the spring. It does not look like the two edge blade that screws on as pictured in the Pump Seal and Impeller Kit - AP631386. How do I remove this spring blade and will I need to reuse it with the old impeller. Does the new two edge blade screw on to the new impeller? Thanks for your help.

After looking at the shafts more closely before disassembly, are the shafts different on older pumps vs. newer ones. It looks like the current pumps have an impeller and blade that screws on to a threaded shaft, whereas on mine, the impeller and spring blade just slides on. Does mine have a "D" shape shaft that the impeller slides onto?

I was able to remove the impeller with the spring blade attached. There's no need to remove the spring blade. Just unscrew the impeller and screw on the new impeller and blade.
