Greetings,
The selector knob on our GE washer has become increasingly difficult to turn. The knob itself just spins. I took the knob off and the ridges were ground smooth. I replaced the knob and it is still very difficult to advance the timer control. Are there any other remedies other than replacing the Timer Assembly? Thanks in advance for your assistance. Bob

Unfortunately the timers are not repairable. It sounds like what has happened is that the timer is partially jammed and that wore away the ridges on the knob.

Thanks for the response, I kind of figured they were not repairable. You agree that it does sound like the Timer Assembly needs replacing?
Thanks again,
Bob

Yes, but if it works though you might want to delay replacing it until it fails or you need another knob. Knobs are a lot cheaper than timers.
