The dial moves along, but there's no noise other than what sounds like going back and forth between filling with water and draining from time to time. In between, just silence. Normally, I would also hear the constant sound of the motor heating up and then moving around the water or whatever. By the way, the door latch handle feels stripped for lack of a better word. Just rattles around instead of feeling like it catches and actually does something. Seems like, over time, to press it had less and less of an effect. And I had to get in the habit of pushing the door with my hip to get it to click closed ... which it does at least still seem to do, I think. So it may or may not be unrelated I guess. How can I get this dishwasher (it's probably about ten years old) working again as soon as possible?

Here is service info http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16008775.pdfSince it fills and drains your door switches are OK Unplug the unit Unplug the motor and check the windings for continuity. Unplug the start relay, check it's winding for continuity. If it rattles it is probably shot. To confirm you could make up a cheater cord, energize the relay and check that the relay contacts close. Check that timer contacts 6 B are closed when timer is set at a wash position. If NG remove the door's inner panel and check it at the timer. If OK you have a bad wire going from the timer to the motor. Should be able to do all the above underneath the unit after removing the kick plate except the at timer check. |
