Press start button,door clicks,water runs for about a second or so.That's it;nothing else happens.Any suggestions on what it might be that I can check out.

Run the diagnostics to see if you can come up with an error that may help you narrow down the cause.

Could be a fill problem.
Undo the hoses at the machine and run some water into a pail, to be sure water is reaching the machine.
Some hoses have a screen filter built into the sealing washer at the tap. Also hoses can delaminate internally and cut off the water flow.
If OK
Look into the machines water valves and check that the filter screens on the input side of the valves are clean.
If not clean it. Do not permanently remove it as it is there to keep crud out of the valve which could hold the valve open and cause a flood.
