I have a Maytag LSQ8220HQ0 that will not spin or agitate during the entire program. I saw similar but not same probs in other posts.
It will fill end empty fine but when agitator or drum should be spinning, nothing happens. Well almost nothing... The agitator will move back and forth but it's very slow and very weak, almost like it's the vibration rather than any drive that's moving it and can be easily stopped by hand. There is no movement in the drum at all, anytime.
I can hear the motor spinning freely and there is a sound of metal rattling at a quick RPM during the entire program as if something was sitting loosely on a shaft or contacting a shaft. There is no burning or hot smell. Reading other posts I can guess it's the coupling or the clutch. Is there a good chance I'm right? Could it be the transmission? Any help on how I could determine what the problem is?
I'm a mechanically adept homeowner but have never had to go inside a washer. Thanks for any and all help and thanks for the links to the help videos. It's so much easier to actually see things being done.

Ok unplug the unit and pull it out far enough to lean back. From under the bottom of the unit, look between the motor and transmission. You will see the motor coupling there. If it is broke or worn Replace this part. Part number: AP3963893
