Washer runs fine until spin cycle. It starts to spin and then kicks off, then starts again and then off. Finally I put a big bottle of laundry soap on the lid by the switch and it runs fine.
I know I just answered my own question but is the switch necessarily bad or is there an adjustment to check first?

replace the lid switch and tell everyone to not slam the lid. This new switch has a plastic tab that holds it in and it will break easily.
