I am replacing a start relay that I just received from you. The problem I am having involves the red and white wires. The wires I have are combined together in a white plastic casing and were plugged in together in the previous part. In the new part, the terminals are farther apart than the fittings on the end of the red and white wires are too small to fit over the terminals on the new part. My question is how do I install the red and white wires to the terminals. Please excuse my ignorance, I am a mom trying to avoid an expensive repair bill. Thank you.

I assume you are using the AP3885081. If so, you have two white start/overload devices, probably one for compressor run current near 1 amp, and another one for a higher current draw. Usually a repair guy would measure current draw and select one based on run current draw. If I where there, I would use the black ptc device and one of the klixons depending on current measurements. This ptc is much more reliable than the white one. If you still want to use these parts, I would just select one of the white start devices and plug it into the compressor terminals. Next, get some crimp on spade terminals and install them, after removing and stripping the wires from the refrigerator plug. Now just plug them in to the two mating pins (not polarity sensitive) and plug the run capacitor in the other holes. Install the cover and turn the fridg on.
