I have a maytag neptune electric dryer mde9700a. It runs fine expect it doesn't heat up. I got an error code that says sensor bar open. What does that mean?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for mde9700a models | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a service manual 16025911 Maytag 27 inch Dryer Service Manual - ApplianceDigest.comYou will have to join the site to download the manual but it is free and is a great site for service manual on many different appliances. I got an error code that says sensor bar open. What does that mean? The manual does not show your error but they may have updated the diagnostics without updating the manuals. See page 22 in the service manual. Could be it has just come loose. The way it works is that a low voltage is applied to the metal strips, When the clothes are wet the moisture provides a current path between the strips so there is a small current. The control board monitors this and does not advance the cycle till the moisture is gone (no current). First I would try removing power from the unit for 5 minutes or so to see if it will reset. Also I would clean between the metal strips, If that does nothing you will have to open it up and check the wires. |
