Hi I have a Kenmore top mount refrigerator. Water keeps dripping on the food from the air duct. I have taken the freezer panel off and the drain is not plugged. I think water is condensing on the vent and running down the vent through the air duct into the refrigerator. I have removed the control pannel and checked for a plugged drain and it is clear.
I am at a loss as what to do. Is there a fix for this or do I have to live with it, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I am assuming that you checked the vent by pouring water down it and checking that it reached the drip tray quickly.
Could be the door is not sealing correctly letting too much moist air into the unit. Take a 2 inch piece of paper or a dollar bill and put it between the door seal and the fridge frame. Then pull it out to see if it is actually sealing, there should be some resistance. Work your way around the door.
Sometimes the hinge side of the door seal can grab onto the frame and twist.buckle causing a poor seal. An easy fix for this is a light coating of white lithium grease or vaseline.
If the unit has an energy saving switch turn it off. |
