Hello I need your help. I just replaced the heater element, thermal fuse, and Thermostat limit Y. The reason for the replacement is because I had no heat. When I took the dryer apart 1 of the wires were burned. I cut off the damaged part and made a new connection. I pluged it in and the element is red hot. How long should the element stay hot. How can I check my wiring . I replaced them the way they were but I would like to double check. This is the wiring at the bottom of the dryer. Thank you:eek:

As long as you made a correct new wire connection you should be okay.

It is not possible to say how long the heating element should be on, because it depends upon the air temp going through the system. However, when I replace thermostats I now replace all of them. I suggest you replace the operating thermostat, this part here

to be on the safe side. It may have stuck open and been the cause of your problem.

Be sure to clean out all the internal air passages and the vent to the outside. You will know things are working good if the top does not get hot during the drying process.
