Good Evening.
I have an electric Amana dryer that will not turn off when set to either of the two automatic cycles. It definitely heats up and seems to cycle through temperatures, because sometimes the clothes are hot, other times they are just warm.

One other (possibly important) peice of information...I took the dryer apart to replace some pulleys. It all went back together fine and has been working for a year, but I recall some confusion about the three wires that connect to the door swithc...Is it possible they are mixed up on the wrong prongs? Would that matter? THanks.

The door switch issue is not causing this. If it works on timed drying then I would use it that way, as it might be the timer which is pretty expensive.
