I have a Admiral 26cuft. side by side model #LSD2615HEW, about a week ago both the fridge and freezer sides stopped cooling. Although the bottom of the unit is cold, i had a couple tri tips and some chicken in the bottom of my freezer and it is still frozen. Yet the rest of the freezer is warm, there is no ice build up. please help!

Does the fan in the back of the freezer compartment still run while the compressor is running?

Just be carefull not to order a fan motor until you jump out the defrost thermostat, because the fan is wired through it. The defrost thermostat is located on top of the evaporator coil, and is about the size of a quarter, and has 2 wires coming to it. Cut the 2 wires, in a way that you can wire them back together, and wire them together, and see if the fan comes on. If not replace the fan, if so replace the defrost thermostat. Wonder what the reasoning is behind wiring the fan that way?

It is really stupid when you think about it. But I would Imagine that they would want the evaporator coil to get cold before the fan runs, so it will blow cold air instead of warm air. Like a furnace, the heat comes on and trips the fan limit switch, and turns the fan on, so cold air won't blow out, the vent, the air would be hot. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
