My Whirlpool will cycle on, then quickly turn off, then come back on and run normally. However, when it does come on and run, it appears to not run as long. Not sure though since modern refrigerators are supposed to run more often but with shorter cycles and still be more energy efficient. My refrigerator and freezer compartments appear to be as cold as they should be.

I would drop down the control panel and tap on the temperature control, probably bad/intermittent. You can clip a ohm meter on it to verify. You could also spray some non-residue contact cleaner on it to see if that fixes it, available at Radio Shack.

I bought some of the electronics cleaner spray and pulled the knob off the temperature control and then sprayed the cleaner into the hole on the side of the control. It seems to have worked as the refrigerator appears to be cycling normally. I will monitor it closely to see if it is actually fixed. Thanks for the tip!
