My Maytag dishwasher starts a program, makes the gushing sound of water entering (fill sequence) then makes the humming sound of the motor turning, but no sloshing and spraying sounds. I opened her up down to the motor spindle and cleared out some debris (including a thumb tack) and reassembled. Same problem.
I aligned the spray arms all to twelve o'clock and started the sequence again. When I opened her up mid program, there was water, but the spray arms had not moved and I got a facefl of hot steam.
When I disassembled her again the only thing I could find that might be wrong (to a layman) was the plastic mounting of the chopper which I have traced to be the "seal kit". It seems to be threaded like it should screw on to the motor single, but it just slides off with minimal resistance. Could this be the culprit?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...... These dishes are piling up!
