dryer starts up heats up for 2 min then shuts heat off everything else works. Let cool down then try again same results. All vents are clear so I have taken out the heating unit checked element and thermos all seem to be ok with meter. What should be my next step to find this problem.

Your motor is overheating, and cutting off. Then, when it cools down, it comes back on. You need to replace the motor. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

By the above do you mean that after 2 minutes the heat shuts off but the drum continues to rotate
OR
That the heat and the drum (motor) shut off.

If it is the latter then as kayakcrzy said the motor is probably overheating.

the blower keeps blowing the tub keeps turning the heater stops heating after 2 min of running. so the blower motors bad?

No, a bad/overheating motor would shut the unit off.

There is a centrifugal switch on the motor for the heater but I doubt this is the problem, though I did find the following in a bulletin on bad switches. I do not think it would be heat/run time related.
The switches with incorrect terminals have brass terminals on the centrifugal switch side of the switch, while the correct switches have silver terminals on the centrifugal switch side of the switch.

Have you tried different setting types re: timed dry, auto, different heat settings etc.
This may give you a clue to what is going on.
