Replacement Ignitor (part#318177710) does not have two connectors to the gas control valve like the old ignitor does.

The old ignitor has two wires coming out of the back of the ignitor - one wire goes directly to the plug that connects to the power source and one wire that has been split with two connectors - one connector goes from the back of the ignitor to the gas control valve and the other connector goes from the plug that connects to the power source to the gas control valve ( the gas control valve has two connection places for these wires ).

How do I modify the new ignitor so that it can have two connectors to the gas control valve ? Right out of the box, these connectors are missing.

Should I get an electrician to modify the new ignitor ? Can I do it myself ?

Just cut the wires off the old ignitor, and strip the wires back, and wire in the new ignitor. I do it all the time. The new ignitor should have come with 2 ceramic wire nuts. If not, get 2 ceramic wire nuts, at your local hardware store, and do this one yourself. Totally easy!!! Make sure you unplug the oven first. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Tom, thank you for your help on the ignitor wiring. Before I read your post, I was actually thinking to ALMOST exactly what you said ( I would have smelled the non-ceramic wire nuts melting - small detail with a big impact ! ).

If I were to ask a follow-up question, it would be this:
Does it make a difference if you use a "generic" ignitor with no part number on the part, as opposed to a Frigidaire Part # 318177710, with the part number on it ?

Thanks, again, Tom ! Your post was a real help and stress-reducer.
