My dryer, a Maytag DE382 Series 7 stopped giving heat yesterday. I popped the hood and found that the black wire attached to the lunchbox had fried at the insulator connector. Lots of burned-up insulation and melted solder. The Element itself is intact, I don't see any thing grounded.

Anyone have any idea what causes the wire to short at this location on this Maytag?UserPostedImage

One of possibilities is a loose connection causing higher than suppose to be current drawn at this point and, as the result, overheating. Just replace this wire.
