My Kenmore HE3T stopped working mid-load. The drum is full of water and won't spin. When I manually push "spin & drain", the motor (I assume) hums, but no drain, no spin. I'm thinking I need a new drive belt and maybe my pump inlet/outlet is obstructed. Thoughts?

Clean out the pump area and take off the back to check the belt. If all is ok, then look under the top or inside the bottom service panel for tech notes that will show you how to put it into diagnostic mode and generate error codes that may solve your problem. Of course, if your problem is the main control unit that won't help since it cannot diagnose itself if it is broken. Hopefully that is not the case.

Thanks for the advice. As it turns out, the pump is shot (working intermittently). I pulled it and tested it on the bench. I've got a new assembly on order. The parts guy claims that this is a popular issue with HE3T/Whirlpool Duets. Hopefully this solves the issue. Thanks again.

The problem is that items from clothese (keys, coins, screws etc) tend to get in the mechanism and cause it to go bad.
Let us know how things turn out.
