My GE refrig is possessed. The freezer is always defrosting to the point where everything melts. Then after about 6 hours it starts freezing again. I've looked at the back of the freeze and notice that it is frosty but not a thick layer and doesn't look unusual. When it warms up, I can also see signs of a heater functioning as I can see the orange glow. I need help to figure this out.... PLEASE!!!!!

This has also created another separate issue. My ice defrosted and actually leaked water down the door and the water ran down the wire into the connector at the bottom left hinge of the freezer door (I think this is the wire that connects the dispenser panel to the main control board). The result shorted out the water/ice selector panel. It no longer has power. I've replaced the water/ice selector panel in the front of the freezer door hoping it would fix it, but no luck.

I'm still having the problem with the freezer constantly defrosting and still have no water/ice depenser.

I've read many suggestions. Just wondering if I should spend $135 on a new control board and hope if fixes both issues?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would replace the defrost terminator, a round thing clipped to the evaporator (AP3884317) and the thermistor, a long, thin, white plastic piece near the bottom of the freezer (AP3185407)

Thanks for the response.

To be clear, you would replace the (AP3884317) and (AP3185407). The AP3185407 is a Temperature Sensor. There is one that looks near the defrost thermostat part attached to the evaporator and the other is on the side wall. You would replace the Temperature Sensor near/on the evaporator, correct?

On the other issue where I'm not getting power to the water/ice panel, I pulled and checked the back of the control board and it didn't look like anything wrong with it (no burn marks, etc). Are there any other fuses that would cause the watr/ice to lose power?

I really appreciate you help!!!!!!!

You are right, replace the thermistor clipped to the top of the evaporator with a metal clip, you only have one in the freezer, some have two. This one controls length of defrost.
