Hey Guys, I have an Admiral refrigerator/top freezer that is frosting, and is not defrosting. The temp in the refrigerator is getting warm in the lowest setting, and things in the freezer are starting to thaw. I advanced the defrost timer until it clicked and I could hear the compressor working, but I dont know where to go from here. I have the inside panel in the freezer removed, and I have a multi meter handy, but electronics is not my strong hand. Any detailed instructions on how to get this refrigerator working right would be appreciated.

Assuming your evaporator is completely frozen, I would defrost the coils with a hair dryer, the clip off the defrost thermostat on top of the evaporator coils. Strip and short the wires together, then check if defrost works, if so, order a new one (AP4072639)

I had this exact problem and I don't know how to use a continuity tester. I defrosted it with a hair dryer, then replaced the defrost thermostat since it was an easy and relatively cheap fix. Worked like a charm. The freezer and fridge are so cold I had to turn down all the temp controls. If that didn't work my next step was to replace the defrost heating element.
