My GE front load washer sounded like it was unbalanced when it was spinning the other day. Then yesterday I noticed some smoke in the laundry room. My husband removed the top of the washer to see if he could see where it was smoking from(while the washer was running). No such luck. When he removed the bottom front panel he said the pump was extremely hot. It seems to only smoke when the washer is rinsing/draining and spinning. Anyone have any idea what we can try?? Repair technicians are soooo expensive, it would be great if it was something my husband could fix. I really need this fixed, we have children, 3 of them are over 13.....do you know how much laundry they accumulate?!:):)HELP!!!!!

Well the first thing you need to know is that this is not a GE washer, despite the name on the front. It is made by Frigidaire for GE. Your problem may be a broken support, which is cause the drum to go off the horizontal axis and putting a strain on the motor. The pump may have debris from washing in it, so that need to be cleaned out. Here is the link to a Frigidaire service manual that should cover your machine. Good luck, hope this helps. http://frigidaireservicetips.co..._TumbleActionWashers.pdf
