I am replacing the inlet cove in my microwave (had a fire and it melted). I am trying to remove the old sealant and it is difficult to remove. Is there any way to loosen the sealant without scraping it off? It's a Whirlpool not a Kitchen Aid.

Annie, You could attempt to soften it with some basic cleaning chemicals, I used denatured alcohol, mostly, but paint thinner, goo gone, etc. should work as well. You would also need to get your hands on a "plastic" putty knife or scraper, so you don't scratch the paint off the cavity, and remove as best possible. That's about the best you can do at this point. Good Luck, :) :) :)
