Wondering if someone can point me in the right direction or help me out. This is my first fridge I have owned so I want to figure this out. I have a Kenmore Elite (model 106.56689501) that was bought around 2007 by the previous owner of the house.

I noticed this morning that both the fridge and and freezer dont seem as cold as they normally are. The ice cubes in the ice-cube compartment look slightly translucent as if they were taken out of the freezer and put on the counter for a minute, but everything is still cold and doesnt appear to be defrosting. In the fridge, I put a temperature probe in the fridge and shut the door and it has stayed at 51 degrees even though its set at 34.

I went to Sears site to look at diagrams to try to find the location of the Defrost Timer, something my Dad says may have gone bad. I cant find it in any of their diagrams so now I'm stuck trying to figure out what is wrong since Sears wants a minimum trip charge of $75 in addition to any testing, repair work. Any ideas? thanks guys.

I believe the defrost timer is electronic on this model and built into the electronic control (part # 2313177) and can be found on the "Unit Parts" diagram as #19.
