Our 6 year old Kitchenaid dishwasher gets extremely hot in the drying cycle - plastic dishes are deformed. Could there be a faulty thermostat or some other control part that can be repaired?

Perhaps the vent is not opening.
I think it should open after 6 minutes of dry time.
Check that the vents wax motor has continuity 600 to 1800 ohms.

Could also be the control board.
