We are looking to buy a new dishwasher. Originally, we considered the Bosch - but I've seen some pretty scathing reviews. Is there a brand out there that has a history of the fewest problems? Kenmore, Maytag, GE, Kithchenaid?

If I recommended a model it would last a week past warranty and then break.

I can tell you that Kenmore does not make anything, they just put their label on it.

Whirlpool owns Maytag and Kitchenaide

GE used to make a nice simple unit but their new ones are mostly more complicated. Also it is very difficult to get any tech info on GE's. They like to keep everything a secret.

I am not a big fan of units that have the controls on the top edge of the door. They have had keypad problems in the past.

Get a unit that does not have a bunch of unnecessary options re: a reservoir for detergent etc. The more stuff they add the more things that can go wrong.

Here is a listing of who actually makes what.
