I recently purchased a GE front load washer and dryer pair from an individual and it appears that the washer is not spinning the clothes. When it is supposed to be spinning it hums and the tub doesn't turn - it just sits there. After a while, it will unlock the door, sit a while and then lock the door again. I have never seen it spin once, but sometimes the clothes do come out dry enough. Most of the time they are still sopping wet. Even on the setting "Rinse and Spin", it seems like it only rinses. When I bought it the previous owner said it really wrings the clothes out, because you have to peel them off the walls of the tub. I also have to keep pressing the "Start" button to continue the cycle. So what gives? Any ideas?

GE does not release technical info, but look inside the service panel and under the top and you should find a tech sheet that will show you how to test some components.

The inverter, which converts AC to DC current to run the motor controls the motor, and it is a weak part of this machine. Try to test it, and replace it if it appears defective.
