When the frig proper is running, it has a noise that sound like water pressure building up. It starts with a low sound, get progressively higher then stops. This might last for a couple of seconds, or it may last for 10 seconds. It will stay off for a while then do it again. It seems to be happening more ofter than it has in the past. I do not have any water leaking, the freezer works fine, and the frig side works fine. The sound that it makes is just annoying, and I don't remember it doing this when we first bought it. The sound stops when the frig shuts off also, and does not start again until the frig comes back on.
Any help would be appreciated.

Any help would be appreciated. Rags, How long have you had the refrigerator ? It would be a good idea and probably, time to clean the condenser coil(in the back,behind the black panel , and the front grille / kick plate. The "pressure noise" you're hearing is normal, there is a noise when the compressor starts, the compressor is pressurizing the system. When the system equalizes and the refrigerant is flowing the noise will go away, occasionally, you'll hear the noise when the compressor cycles off, as well. There is a noise reduction kit available, Part number: AP4009410
and with a little imagination, it'll work on any refrigerator, But at this point, I don't hear anything abnormal, or unexpected. That may be an option you would like to consider . Good Luck, :) :) :)

Joe I just finished cleaning the junk from the fins behind the kick plate. Checked the back, it is completely covered with a metal plate with the exception of at the very bottom. I took the cover off but was unable to find any crud behind it. It has insulation glued to it, which I think is more for sound deadening. The sound that I was hearing is quieter but still there. You indicated that it is a normal sound, so I guess I shouldn't worry about it. It is just annoying when sitting at the counter and have to listen to it.

Rags Rags, Great job, You need to remember to keep that kick plate grille area, clean , it'll keep the refrigerator working more efficiently(at least once a year). The noise will always be there, it's always been there, it will increase and decrease in noise level, the kit I reccomended in my previous post will help to reduce the level, but won't eleminate it. As long as you know it's a "normal" noise, you'll be alright. We're Glad we could be of some help, Have a good Holiday Season, :) :) :)

I looked at the kit but coundn't quite figure out where it would go. Unless it fit over the fins behind the kick plate. But the sound doesn't seem to be coming from that area. It sounds more like it comes from the back of the Frig. It has quieted down some since I cleaned the fins, so I guess I will just try and ignore it for now. I will keep your email in case I decide to order the kit./

Rags;) Rags, For future reference, The noise reduction kit, actually is installed on the Evaporator, where the capillary tube(small tube) enters the evaporator tube(large tube), this is where the refrigerant expands and causes the noise. This assembly and junction, is located behind the freezer compartment back wall. You'd have to remove everything in the freezer,lower area, to access the back wall and evaporator. It would probably take you a good 30 to 40 minutes to do the modification, a decent project for some Saturday. And as I said, it does work on all refrigerators, with some minor modifications from the instruction sheet, that comes with the kit. :) :) :)
