Disassemble the dryer (the instructions are attached) and remove the drum. Most likely the problem is a bad rear bearing.

Clean the dryer inside and the dryer vent line all the way through the vent outlet. It is very important to keep the vent clean for your safety and the best dryer performance.

Ok, I had the exact same problem with my Frigidaire Dryer (Noisy only when heat is on). This was how I solved my problem.
I replaced the motor, upper felt strip and rear bearing assembly all of which did not fix the problem. After a lot of thought I developed a test that helped me solve the problem. (keep in mind that my dryer had previously overheated)
1. Completely remove the drum, idler, spring and belt and start the dryer with the heat on. (If you are dumb enough to place your hands in the dryer while doing this and get hurt then that is your fault, not mine)
If the motor doesn't make any odd noise then proceed to the next step.
2. Reinstall the drum only and start the dryer with the heat on again, if the motor becomes noisy again at this point. Then take a closer look at your blower fan, the fan is plastic but the nut in the center is metal. My fan had two small cracks in the plastic just around the center nut. Once I replaced my fan/shroud assembly the noise went away. Hope this helps someone, I blew a ton of money to finally figure this out.

Same exact problem. Repairman replaced rear bearing assembly on trip #1. Then when noise continued, replaced drive motor on trip #2. Problem still exists. Blower housing had small cracks around metal screw as described in the blog entry. New twist though....As he was doing various other testing, with high heat in the unit, those cracks fused together, and the noise went away. Have new blower and housing on order, but can use dryer until he returns again. But hey, I now have a new motor, new rear bearing assy and will have new blower fan/housing, for only $30 more than original estimate.
May as well say I have new dryer !:)
