My whirpool oven will not work. The cooktop works fine but there is no gas getting to the oven. I read on the internet it might be the igniter, that if it glows red and not bright yellow or white or not at all all the gas is cut off because it is too weak. does this sound correct? And how easy is it to install the igniter? (mine glows red in one small spot of the igniter)

Most likely the problem is a bad igniter but there is a small chance for the gas safety valve to be bad too. If you have a special meter to measure the current drawn by the igniter (it suppose to be more than 3.2 amps)then you can make sure which part is bad exactly. If you do not have such meter then I would recommend to start with the igniter because a faulty gas safety valve is pretty rare. This part is not too difficult to replace yourself. You can read how to do it in one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros...nstall-oven-igniter.html - The part number for the oven igniter is AP3119495 Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool range Model SF310PEAW1Gene.
