:) The ice and water dispenser stopped working on my GE Profile SS refrigerator. I've replaced the water filter and water valve and check the water line pressure which is okay. I also defrosted the freezer section of the refrigerator. The refrigerator is making ice and all of the control panel lights are working. The ice flap opens and closes when calling for ice but no ice or water are dispensed. It doesn't appear to be an electrical problem but I'm not able to identify anything mechanical. I'm stumped ...any ideas out there. Many thanks. Ralph

Fortunately for me I resolved the problem. Can't say exactly why though. After reading additional trouble shooting suggestions at appliance-repair-it I opened up the water supply line below the freezer door. Once I open up the connection and depressed the water dispenser, water flowed onto the floor. This indicated to me that the filter, water valve and water line beyond the reservoir were all good. It also indicated no electrical problem. After reconnecting the water line I pressed the dispenser again and water flowed at the dispenser. I also checked the ice dispenser and it worked as well. Great! But why? I had already thawed the freezer for 8 hours so it could'nt possible be a frozen line in the door. Could it have been a simple blockage or air bubble that I cleared, most likely I think. I did buy a water valve needlessly but in the long run I got a good education on the workings of a water and ice dispenser.
