I have a Whirlpool (Kirkland model#seds800mq1) and no matter what setting I put the heat control switch on it only dries on high heat. I have tried cleaning out lint trap all the way out but that dosen't help. Fred,

Here are your parts Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL SEDS800MQ1 29``ELECTRIC DRYER | AppliancePartsPros.comCould be the internal heater in the cycling thermostat (Item 8 in Section 3) is burned out. This thermostat has 4 connections. Two are the contacts that control the heating element. The other two are for a built in heater. This heater is turned on when using low heat. It adds heat to the thermostat and therefore the dryer runs cooler. Remove one of the wires to this and measure it. Usually they are 20,000 to 30,000 ohms. The above only applies if the heat is high on a low setting, if it is also high on Air Fluff then odds are that your heating element is grounded (the element has shorted to the case and the thermostats cannot regulate it). Unplug the unit and remove both wires from the heating element. Measure across the heating element, should be 10 to 12 ohms. Then measure from each side of the element to the case/frame, both should be infinite ohms. If not your element is grounded and probably needs replacing. |
