I have a Kitchenaid K6RT26DTAL00 side by side that may be 10 years or older that stopped making ice and upon inspection it was only keeping frozen food frozen but was only getting to the freezing point-- not not any colder than 30 degrees. I raised the cooling controls and got it down to 30-32 and get some ice. The fridge is no any better (about 47-50). I checked the coils and they were not clean but not dirty. The evaporator is dry with no frost what-so-ever and the compressor is hot and the fans FREEZER AND COMPRESSOR both work. I am guessing that a thermostat has gone south or the freon is low but since you can't stick gauges on it...
your assistance is greatly appreciated. Jeff

Sounds like the compressor is getting weak or a sealed system problem. Both os which require a certified technician for repairs.
