First time poster, but I have lurked here before for technical information. For somebody else's future search, I will document my problem/fix:

My SHU5315UC dishwasher has been working well for the past year....I bought it used off craigslist, for a steal of $225. Had to fix one of the counterweight ropes, but after I got that completed, it worked perfectly, or so I thought.

It has a build date of 2001. Fast forward a year to a few weeks ago, it started making some weird noises during the cycle, sounded like something from the bottom of it. Then it would run on and on....it would start at 90 minutes on the display, then count down, then go back up to 77 minutes, then after a week or so, it would go up to "2H" after starting the cycle and running for 20 minutes. Then it would just start at "2H" and basically never finish.

I downloaded the troubleshooting manual here and ran a check cycle, and it went on and on for almost 2 hours. In the end I got fault code "2" which indicates the heating cycle is not working properly. If it is working properly, it heats the water to 150 F or so before it goes on to the next portion of the test. If the heater is working, it can add about 1F to the water every minute or so. That would be about 10-15 minutes if you start with warm water.

So then I took it apart after looking at the troubleshooting guide and found the bad solder joint, I fixed the solder joint, put it back together, ran the test, no fault codes and it heated the water up nicely. I actually put a thermocouple in the dishwasher basin and closed the door and watched the temperature during the test.

However, it still did the "2H" while running in normal mode and could not complete a cycle.

So based on Gene's advice in many other threads here, and decided it was time to replace the control board. Appliance Pro Parts was out of stock, I got one on e bay for about the same price and installed it.

Now the dishwasher starts at "90" once again, the heater is working, the noise has gone away, and the dishes actually look even cleaner.

I would like to thank Gene for all of his posts, you helped me out just by allowing me to do the search.
