We have an old Maytag DG-500 dryer. The drying cycle takes a long time, (about 1 hr. and 40 min.). I cleaned the flue with a flue brush; it wasn't blocked, but I did get quite a bit of lint out. I also vacuumed all the lint from the back of the unit. I haven't tried the dryer again since I cleaned it.
I did notice that the two drive belts seemed loose. The longer of the two belts is a Truflex 1560 (3L560) 56" X 3/8". There is about 2" of play on that belt. The shorter belt is a Truflex 1470 (3L470) 47" X 3/8". There is about 1" of play on that belt. Both belts are at least five years old.
Could these loose belts be the reason the drying cycle takes so long and are these even the right size belts to begin with?
