GE toploader/belt drive. I'm pretty sure the tubseal is leaking. What are the general replacement steps ie from the top/bottom/ what has to come off etc.

Also although the washer still works .. there are some noises during the spin cycle. I'm thinking water has damaged..to some degree the transmission/gbox. Is this something that can be cured/alleviated with some lube when its apart or am I also looking at replacing that.

Thank you

Sounds like its a loss but i'm still curious, how do i get to the seal? Access from the top or from the bottom or both?

You need a new transmission, and the leak is the seal, but unfortunatly a new seal will leak also because when that tranny starts to make the noise, the hole the seal sits in gets elongated, therefore will leak. To totally fix your machine, you need a tranny outer tub and seal.

Thank you, Looks like its a loser. I'm curious, however, how do you replace the seal..can it be accessed from the top?
