The controls are in the top edge of the door. It appears that when the door is latched the controls are fine but when you open the door the lights flash on the go off so that the panel is now inop. It is almost like the closed side of the switch/latch is fine but the open side is not switching the panel on. Could also be the PCB or a cable? Any advise?
Thanks,
Steve

Help me understand. If the keypad were bad why would it be powered up when the door is closed and go dead when the door is opened?

It's a ribbon cable, rubs on the metal inside of the door, can get cut and cause a short. also moisture can get in there and cause it also. Have you tried disconnecting power to the dishwasher for a couple of minutes and seeing if that fixes it.
