The ice maker/water dispenser in our GE Monogram Refrigerator will sporadically turn itself on and continue to run until the door lock button is pushed or power is cut off. We had an appliance repairman come out in
June of 2009 and replace the motherboard which he claimed was the cause of the problem. Everything was fine until about 2 months ago when the same problem re-occurred then corrected itself after a day or so. Last night the water dispenser turned itself on and flodded the kithchen. Any ideas as to what could be causing this to happen?

Does this unit have a glass dispenser control panel?...If so, there is a circuit board for the dispenser that needs to be replaced.

We recently had our water dispenser turn on by itself in the middle of the night for 15 minutes, flooding and ruining our hardwood floor. We came out to water and the tray in the ice maker was full of water with water down the front of the freezer. Watched the surveillance tape of our video camera in the kitchen and watched it come on and run and then turn off. 10's of thousands of dollars home owners insurance claim. GE telling me they have never heard of it before. There are at least a half a dozen homeowners in my neighborhood that have experienced the same thing. Considering turning off the dispenser completely to avoid the disaster we just went through.
