Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 11/10/2008(UTC) Posts: 2		:mad: When washer is in agitation cycle, washer makes loud rubbing sound (sounds like rubber rubbing on a steel shaft) that seems to come from transmission. The spin cycle sounds normal. Washer runs complete cycle and successfully completes wash. Warranty has run out. Am I in for big trouble? Do I need to install a new transmission?

If does not move freely then replace the pump. - The part number for the pump is AP3447809 Gene.

Pull front panel and check above the tranny for a bad seal. This is a big repair job to replace both tub bearing and tranny brake. Go to web site maytag atlantis washer repair spin bearing thats noisy, diy for a procedure.
