If it was turned 180° around then it could obstruct the soap cup lid. If there is nothing wrong then check if the console is not playing on the right side. If it does, then the wax motor for the dispenser (#17 on the break down diagram) is not engaged properly, causing the lid not to open. Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dishwasher Model DU920PFGB0 Gene.
