Hello all,

I am new to this forum but appreciate the help in advance.

In short summary, a few weeks ago I noticed my side-by-side would click on quite loudly and after humming for about 20 seconds the humming would stop and the unit would seem to run fine. However, yesterday I put some groceries in it and found this morning the freezer is no longer cold or too warm. It also does the clicking/humming a lot more often. At least every 5 minutes.

I cleaned around the coils and made sure the fan in the back was not hitting anything. I also had the evaporator fan replaced last year as well.

Thank you for any help and your time to this matter.

If it clicks and hums and repeats this every ten min or so either the start device is bad or the compressor is. Unplug it at this point so further damage isn't done. If it's a Tecumseh Compressor it may be bad if it's a Embraco Compressor it's more likely than not the compressor but the relay or start device is bad

Thank you for the quick reply. I actually have someone coming out today to look at the unit and was told if the rely is bad he could fix it. If it is the compressor he could not as I would need amana's people (A&E factory).

I already have A&E coming out tomorrow morning.

I guess my concern is should I just wait till tomorrow or is there a good chance it is the relay? Honestly just trying to avoid trip charges that will not fix the unit.

Sorry I am not home right now so am not sure of the compressor model.

Thanks again for the help. Wish I found this forum years ago.

Ron
