I have a Kenmore Elite HE3 Washing Machine that is about 3 1/2 years old. It started flashing an F11 code and a Fdu code about a month and a half ago and we were advised to change out the door lock and if that didn't work to change out the Motor Control Unit. We changed the door lock and it worked fine for a few weeks then we got the F11 code again so we changed out the MCU and it has worked ok for a week and a half or so and then yesterday it gave me the F11 code again. If I opened it up and played with a few wires on the MCU it would start back up and finish the cycle. Then my husband unplugged and replugged a couple of the wires back in and it worded fine for three loads and then the fourth load it gave me the code again, which I was able to override by opening it up again and playing with the wire again. We are needless to say frustrated and not sure what we should do next. We really don't want to spend anymore money on it so we are hoping it is an easy fix. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I call that the dreaded F11 code. I am technician, and I have had that code come up, on 2 different occasions, and never could find out what is wrong. There has to be a harness problem, with a bad connection, that you will never find. One of the ones the customer just gave it to me, and I bought it back to the shop, and it worked fine for about 3 weeks, and then I gave it to a lady, and she said it never worked. Moving around would make it work and not. I have never herd anyone of my friends that are in the business, fix an F11 code. Sorry to tell you that. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

An F11 is a communication error between the motor and motor controller or Central control unit. Even Whirlpool can't tell you exactly what it is thats why they are so vague in their troubleshooting There is another computer on the baseplate and if the CCU didn't fix it then you replace the motor controller but you also verify the motor windings are good It's messed up because by the time you get it fixed you could have 500 in it

Well that does not mean you fixed it. But if you did, how about sharing with us, and this poor person, before they call Sears out, with the part # of the harness, and some direction. Because they have quite a few harness, and I am sure that v2Ko4 would like to know too. Tom

I'm not really sure what your trying to say Tom, I said "I repaired 2 under warrantee" How much clearer can I put it?(Repaired translates to FIXED!!!!) I changed the COMPLETE WIRING HARNESS!!!!! Not the motor harness, Not the control harness, THE COMPLETE HARNESS, It was 2yrs. ago, I do not have the part#'s used. A call to Whirlpool's tech line will get you the latest part#'s and any other ??? you have. It takes about an hour to do the 2nd one, The 1st one took Me an hour and a half!!!!

Well, I am not privey to call Whirlpools tech line, because I do not do there warranty. I thought that you had a recent repair with these washers. That's why the part # would have been great for me to have. About giving you s*@%, I was trying to raise a hair on your back. I see I did!! LOL. LOL Tom ApplianceEducator.com
